Meet Dr. Sarah Hewes
Dr. Sarah Hewes is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience in eating disorders and body image. She is dedicated to eating disorder treatment and research and has a strong background in working with women in sports, the athletic identity, and perfectionism.
Dr. Sarah is also experienced in treating co-occurring mood disorders, personality disorders, and relationship/family issues across the lifespan and at all levels of care. With a humanistic approach and integrating CBT and DBT concepts, Sarah believes in empowering her clients to live the life they want.
She has her Masters and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology. Her academic experience includes positions at Yale University School of Medicine and McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, as well as teaching at the collegiate and graduate level at four different universities. Dr. Sarah's mission is to empower individuals on their journey to better mental health by providing specialized support for eating disorders. She prioritizes collaboration with one's Care team to ensure holistic care and good communications amongst providers and client. And recently, after seeing so many of her clients struggle coming home after treatment, she has added a program where she will come to your home and provide therapy and nutrition support. Dr. Sarah is committed to continuously learning about new approaches in this field and is always looking to improve treatment for eating disorders. When she is not working with her clients, she enjoys family time in Connecticut and Colorado where she is licensed. She is currently offering virtual sessions.
